Diving @ Sipadan

(Note: Long overdue post. Blame the work and frequent travels I had since the Sipadan trip in Dec'09)

When I was a little kid, I always enjoyed watching National Geographic program, especially when they are showing the sea life series. I'm always fascinated with the various fishes under the big blue seas, the vibrantly colourful corals, the magnificient underwater scenes, and of course, seeing SCUBA divers interacting with the sea creatures, such as turtles, dolphins, whales, and sharks.

Now, after going through 2 levels of diving courses, I'm finally able to fulfill another item in my wish list. Yes, diving in Sipadan has been one of my wishes since I was a kid (more like since I know the existence of Sipadan island, probably since high school I think lol).

It took us a few months to plan for this dive trip (credits to Zhenyi actually, I only joined the planning part when it's time to pay lol). Good budget trip needs good planning ^^

So, on 17 Dec, Zhenyi and I flew to Tawau and was transported to Semporna to board the boat transfer to Seaventures Dive Resort. If you follow the link, you will noticed that the SDR used to be a sea dig rig, being refurbished into a dive resort. Ain't it cool or what? I find it's really unique and one of a kind, as the resort is just 20 minutes away from Sipadan Island, and 1 km away from Mabul and Kapalai. The dive resort is one of the nearest to Sipadan Island, so we will never be far behind to other divers in getting to Sipadan as early birds lol.

Diving at Sipadan, being vibrant with various sea lifes, there're still several 'must see' agendas, such as schools of Bumphead Parrotfishes, Barracudas vortex, sharks, turtles, etc.

I shall let the photos do the talking.

Barracudas - close up shot

The vortex!

Swimming with the Barracudas!

Bumphead Parrot Fishies!

Orang Utan Crab in bubble corals

Colourful Angel Fish

Morale Eel in a toilet bowl!

The common clown fishes a.k.a. Nemo fishies

Bubble Coral Shrimp

Green turtle - tonnes of them in Sipadan

Swim racing with the turtle lol

Another big green turtle

Overall, the trip was simply fantastic. Definitely one of the 'fine diving' experience ^^

Looking at your posts, I think you're one in a billion! You're so unpredictable and deep in nature. (Deep in nature means: 1. as it is 2. you dive in the deep blue sea ;p, hahaha...)

also your command of English which I realized keep on improving. I start to worry about those long reports that I need to produce later in my job.

You really have "some ways" in squeezing your busy exec life schedule. I salute you for being so Andy Lau.
